The safe use of fuel cans

Apr 02, 2018

The use of fuel packaging cans is very convenient, and the economic benefits are thus favored by many consumers. This kind of fuel is very safe in itself, but we still need to pay attention to safety issues during use to ensure that nothing is lost. First of all, the unloading of fuel cans should be conducted under the supervision of the safety manager.

Second, a warning sign should be set in the unloading area of the fuel packaging tank. Unrelated personnel must not enter the unloading operation area. Before entering the work area, attention should be paid to inspection, and it is forbidden to bring fire with them; smoking is prohibited; the engine should be turned off when discharging. During thunderstorm weather, it should be confirmed that lightning protection and wet-tide prevention measures are effective.

It should be noted that during the filling of the alcohol-based fuel, the discharge pipe should be placed deep inside the fuel packaging tank. And the distance from the nozzle of the discharge pipe to the bottom of the tank shall not exceed 200 mm to prevent static electricity from splashing. Before the discharge pipe nozzle is not immersed in liquid, the flow rate should be limited to 1m/s. Remember that during filling of alcohol-based fuels, overflow should be prevented. The unloading personnel shall not leave the unloading site without authorization; the transfer pump is equipped with an automatic metering facility or an alcohol-based fuel storage tank equipped with an electrostatic discharge overflow pipe, which is connected to the tank truck when unloading.

In addition, anti-leakage measures shall be taken around the fuel packaging tanks and a volume of not less than 1 cubic metre shall be provided. At the same time, before the filling operation, it is necessary to prepare fire-fighting equipment at the unloading site. After unloading, the site should be cleaned.

There are also certain requirements regarding the storage of fuel cans. Usually, it is required to set up a separate fuel storage room on the first floor, separated from other parts with a firewall. Fuel packaging cans are generally made of metal materials, and should be well grounded. The storage should have good ventilation facilities, and the temperature should not exceed 37 °C.http://www.wickchafingfuel.com/
